2 Samuel 7:11-14a “… The Lord declares to you… When your time comes and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up after you your descendant, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son.” (CSB) (1060-1020 BC)
Hebrews 2:14 “Because God’s children are human beings – made of flesh and blood – the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. (NLT)
Matthew 3:17 “And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” (CSB)

Over the years it seems we look at the birth of Jesus as a ho-hum thing that is celebrated yearly. I believe we have somehow swept under the rug the mystery of what the Godhead accomplished in the birth of Jesus.
As mentioned previously, only a female whose body had not experienced the dirtiness of blood flow from her body could hold the holiness of God’s presence for nine months. Not only that, but God the Son who can be anywhere at any time had to condense Himself into the enclosure of a womb. And, not just as a baby but as an embryo developing into a human being.

When the angels were singing their announcement of His birth, they were ecstatic! They were not stoically singing. Full out worship was the action of the night.
Can you see the angels exhibiting this type of joy? Mankind was finally going to be fully freed from their sins and iniquities. What an accomplishment. After all, this had never been done before!
Jesus, now as a son of a woman, had blood flowing through Him. He could now care for His people, as well as all other nations, in a way that He was never able to do until His time came to complete this grandiose miracle. The birth of our Savior was a BIG deal.
Food For Thought
Do you see the birth of Jesus only as a traditional calm celebration? Have you ever realized the enormous feat that was accomplished which brought on heaven’s excitement?
