How Do The Seeds Fall?

Have you ever seen a flower growing on a rocky surface and wondered, “How does it do that?”

Maybe the next question is, does it last long or does it wither away quickly? Jesus spoke about the growth on weird surfaces in Mark 4, Matthew 13, and Luke 8.

Can growth happen on these strange locations? Yes.

Does it stick around long? No.

When Jesus explained it to His disciples, He spoke of people hearing the Word of God…the gospel message of salvation…and their reception to this message. And, of course, like me, most people reading the passages think they are the good soil because they have held on to the message of salvation.

Recently, the Lord showed me a kink in that thinking.

He told me, we all have these soils within us. No exceptions. But, don’t despair…there is hope.

While we all have different personalities that have quirks to keep us unique, we all have areas the Holy Spirit wants to change. Areas that with some adjustments can more easily reflect Jesus. The question is – how open and flexible are we to this change?

Over the next four days I’ll review these soils. One each day. To cover them all at one time is overwhelming for me as I process what the Lord is showing me. And, perhaps, for you as well.

I hope that with each lesson you’ll come away with food for thought. And perhaps, better insight into self reflection so that your walk with the Word of God grows and multiplies just as He promises.
